Mako Radio Amateur Club

„The community life-form becomes weaker; we do not think that we may obtain joy, peace, knowledge by our fellowmen. Strange, one-man prisons are created with complete comfort.” - a film-aesthete (Andras Rez) says it in relation to the current crisis of the communities. „Long ago, people in the pub got intoxicated together; this thing did not make good influence for their liver, but did good influence for their soul. Nowadays, many people do this at home alone …”

For more than a half century there is an amateur radio club in Mako, in this small, South-Eastern border town. It had sometimes more, sometimes less club members. Liking for electrical engineering, radio engineering, radio communications and equipment construction were the „common denominator” that gathered together 20-30 people and created a special community. So it is today. People with different age, technical knowledge, occupation, profession and financial situation find common topic, and with sometimes less, sometimes more activity they make common programs.

Club members can be anyone who meets the general standards of human moral and aids the main aims of Mako Amateur Radio Club. These main aims are as follows: to promote the development of radio amateurism, to take care of standard and ethical level of radio communication, to help to increase the levels of knowledge of young people and voluntary participation in disaster communications if necessary. A written request and nominations by two club members needs for the admission into the Mako Amateur Radio Club.
