HA5ØKCI — Golden Jubilee

Fifty years ago, in 1958, an enthusiastic group of friends formed in Makón, whose members showed an interest in electrical engineering and radio engineering. This company had a member who was then a “veteran” radio amateur, dr. Ferenc Báron HA8CF (ex. HA1L) lawyer. Another experienced amateur, Lajos Kucsera HA8CI engineer, also moved to Makó through His intercession. Thanks to their enthusiasm, the Radio Amateur Club will be established in Makón soon, in the same year.

Lajos Kucsera was the club secretary, Ferenc Báron, Endre Sántha, Sándor Marosvári, János Szabó, János Szűcs, Mihály Majsai, Sándor Bakos, Károly Fisher, Zoltán Benke were members. They immediately decided to build a transmitter, but they also considered it important to learn Morse signs. The 3.5 MHz transmitter with a 6L6G end tube was soon completed and a "windom" antenna was installed. The HA8KCI call sign club station has already participated in the autumn OK (Czechoslovak) competition ...

On July 19, 2008, at the XVI-th Southeast Border International Radio Meeting, Makó radio operators, together with invited guests and visitors, also celebrated their 50th anniversary.

From July to December 31, 2008, the Mako Amateur Radio Club used the anniversary call sign HA5ØKCI and acknowledged the connections with a special QSL card.
