International Radioamateur Meetings in Mako

The idea of radio amateur meeting in Mako came from Sanyi (HA8LUX), who used to be active on CB. In 1992 Sanyi joined to Mako Radio Amateur Club and in the same year the first HAM meeting had been organized by him. He was already experienced in organization, because between 1984 and 1993 the dancing-party of CB hobbyists used to be organized by him also. Soon he passed the radio amateur examination and got call sign. The HA8LUX was almost joint up with HAM meetings in Mako.
 

There were – and still are - assistants in the organization, of course. Initially, †HA8DK Sanyi was his assistant, who was a radio amateur to the backbone. During the preparation and organization and during the meeting he worked hard to the end that everybody may feel fun in Mako. Since than every year on the bank of the special beauty Maros river has held a radio amateur meeting. This is our events, the radiomen’, either CB or HAM or both.
 

Maros river floodplain goes along from the Hungarian-Romanian border to the mouth of Tisza river and it is part of the Koros-Maros National Park. The floodplain somewhere is quite romantic, sections that are located at the more extensive forests, creating a unique landscape and habitant conditions, which is one of the beautiful and valuable natural treasures of Hungary. Landscape values are the steep river walls, sand-bar with a century old willows, black and white poplars, and the pasture with alternating patches of forest.
